NHL player to be euthanized after suffering dog attack

A player who suffered a dog attack in February is to be killed by veterinarians after being declared brain dead.

The New York Islanders forward has been in stable condition since the incident.

The incident was caught on video and shared widely on social media.

According to a statement from the hospital, the 23-year-old suffered severe injuries and his right eye is permanently damaged.

A doctor has ruled out a brain death, but doctors at Albany Medical Center say the condition is irreversible.

The hospital said it has not released details of the prognosis for the player, who was injured while playing against the Detroit Red Wings in Buffalo on Feb. 14.
