BJP’s state unit in Gujarat is “welcomed” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a senior party leader said.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is a close confidant of Modi, and the BJP has long been in power in the state.
Modi, who is also a BJP leader, will visit the state on March 15.
He is likely to address a rally in Gujarat’s western Gujarat district of Chikkur on March 16, the BJP spokesman on Monday said.
Rupani has been an outspoken critic of the BJP’s policy of development in Gujarat.
He has also said the party is the “only” option for the people of Gujarat.
